The Athena Channelizer is a cutting edge cognitive radio implementation developed for the US Air Force for use on the Transformation Satellite (TSAT) program. ACT forms an RF connection matrix similar to a telephone switch, but for use with wireless instead of wired communications. ACT is an array of receivers, digital downconverters, and associated hardware elements required to receive multiple simultaneous RF transmissions of varying bandwidth, and simultaneously retransmit them on new frequencies. Multiple signals may be collected, aggregated together, and retransmitted together. This unprecedented capability to dynamically acquire multiple signals and relay information from multiple sources to any new frequency, to essentially any user, enables the efficient delivery of many types of data from many sources to the warfighter of tomorrows warfighters.
