The 6400 series is the next generation of Athena’s sophisticated public key cryptography microprocessor family, leveraging Athena’s proprietary arithmetic technology and a 64-bit architecture to achieve unprecedented performance for large key operations. Capable of over 12,000 RSA-1024 and over 5,000 RSA-2048 operations per second (at >566 MHz), the 6400 series is as much as an order of magnitude faster than other technologies. The E6421 processor is optimized for RSA-2048 operations, while the E6431 is optimized for RSA-3072 operations.
The TeraFire® cryptography microprocessors implement Athena’s proprietary public key instruction set architecture, which allows for the programming of virtually any public key operation, including the myriad of elliptic curve cryptography algorithms, new algorithms, and new standards. Maximum operation size is limited only by memory, so RSA and Diffie-Hellman operations of up to 16K can be supported.
The TeraFire 6400 series delivers over five times faster processing of RSA-2048 operations than the 5200 series architecture, while maintaining 100% code compatibility and 100% functional compatibility across the entire TeraFire® cryptography microprocessor family. Like the 5200 series, the 6400 series can perform virtually any public key operation and easily accommodates new standards with on-the-fly programmability.
X5200 Executable Firmware
The X5200 library implements high-level algorithms in assembly language. Complex algorithms such as RSA with CRT, elliptic curve point multiply, and ECDSA sign and verify can all execute without host processor intervention, providing a complete fire-and-forget cryptographic offload solution for your application. Optional X5200 development tools, including an assembler and software simulator, are also available (sold separately).
C Software for Host Processor
The TeraFire CAL-PK is a portable, ANSI C library of drivers for TeraFire public key processors. CAL-PK has been implemented and tested on multiple platforms, including leading SoC microprocessors from ARM.
